Elaine Thompson-Herah won back-to-back Olympic 100m and 200m gold. She confirmed her status as the 100m queen winning her second consecutive gold medal in the blue-riband event setting a new Olympic record. The Jamaican sprint queen beat a quality field β including two-time Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce β racing to victory in an Olympic record time of 10.61 seconds. By winning the 200m final, she also became the first woman to win the 100-200m double gold at consecutive Olympics. Her outstanding Olympic performance was rounded up, when Jamaica stormed home to their first Olympic women’s 4x100m title in 17 years, taking gold in a national record time of 41.02 at the Olympic Stadium.
