As Cao Yuan seamlessly entered the water from 10m high, it was beyond doubt that a fourth gold medal in as many Olympic tournaments was set to be his.
As he jumped to the top of the table, resulting in some repositioning, some saw their potential gold turn to silver, silver to bronze, and some just missed out on a medal. Amongst this misfortune, scenes were upbeat, we saw athletes and their teams all in celebration with each other, grateful they all played a part in making themselves, their families, and their nations proud on the world stage.
