Deguchi Christa, a native of Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture, who won the gold medal in the women’s 57 kg judo category at the Paris Olympics™, appeared on “SBC News Wide” and reflected on the tournament, saying, “I’m glad I was able to give back…” She also shared her feelings for her hometown, saying, “Although I’m representing Canada, I’m from Shinshu, born in Shiojiri, and I think I was able to win the gold medal with the help of the people of Nagano Prefecture.”
