🔥GRETCHEN WALSH SMASHES 100M BUTTERFLY WORLD RECORD | 55.09 Prelims | Fort Lauderdale 2025🔥

History was rewritten this morning as Gretchen Walsh stunned the swimming world once again — clocking a jaw-dropping 55.09 in the 100m butterfly prelims at the 2025 TYR Pro Swim Series in Fort Lauderdale.

Already the world record holder, Walsh lowered her own mark by 0.09 seconds, reaffirming her dominance in the event. Her split of 25.54 on the first 50m came just 0.61 seconds off her winning 50 fly time from the night before (24.93), and she closed the race with a brilliant 29.55 — the only back-end split under 30 seconds in the field.

With this swim, Walsh not only sets a new World Record, but also rewrites the American Record, US Open Record, and Pro Swim Series Record — and it’s the fastest 100m butterfly in the world this year.

👀 And she’s known to go faster in finals… Are we on sub-55 watch tonight?
