The Rockies jumped on Nick Pivetta early and often, scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning and 3 more in the 3rd.
Pivetta, 5-1 with a 2.01 ERA coming into the game, was not his usual self in the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field.
On the other side, Colorado Starter German Marquez shut down the Padres’ red-hot offense- which had scored 34 runs in the 1st 2 games of this series combined.
After allowing Fernando Tatis Jr to manufacture a run in the 1st, Marquez- who retired 12 Pads’ hitters in a row at one point- pitched great.
