Special Olympics Japan (Chairman: Hiraoka Takuaki/Minato-ku, Tokyo) is promoting the “Be with all” project, which involves understanding differences between people, regardless of whether they have an intellectual disability or not, and creating and implementing connections with society. Following the video work “Special Movie ALIVE #1” that expresses “Be with all” in 2023, “Special Movie ALIVE #2”, the second film in the ALIVE series, depicting “Unified Sports®”, a unique initiative by Special Olympics, has been released! The Short Version is here 👇 https://youtu.be/ZVgMMr4HXos?si=qOxBDKHJdo0WQGNv This video is directed by Hayakawa Chie, a film director who directed the film “Renoir” (released nationwide on June 20th) in the “Competition category” at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The film was also produced with full cooperation from AOI Pro Co., Ltd., a video production company that has been supported by a long-standing Japanese partner company for Special Olympics. ★What is Unified Sports®? This is a unique initiative by Special Olympics (SO), in which people with intellectual disabilities (athletes) and people without intellectual disabilities (partners) become teammates and play sports together. Like them, the aim was to convey the wonderfulness of SO friends from around the world gather together at a world championships, and how people can connect and smile through sports, whether they are unable to communicate with language, or have disabilities. What does “winning” mean for SO? I think the answer is reflected.
