World and European champion, world record holder and now Olympic champion: high jumper Jaroslawa Mahutschich won the last major title she was missing in Paris. Even though she failed (this time) to jump over 2.04m in her second attempt, 2.00m from her first attempt was enough for the Ukrainian to take the medal!
Eleanor Patterson (Australia) and Mahutschich’s compatriot Iryna Geraschenko tied for third place, securing Ukraine’s second gold medal at the Summer Games in France.
