Becoming an Olympian is one of the biggest honors across any sport. Tom Scott got that opportunity and did so when karate was added to the 2020 Olympic Games. In Fight Finders 007, we follow around Tom Scott as he gets ready for, and competes in, the 2025 US Karate Nationals.
We start our adventure off at the Academg of Classical Karate in Plano, TX. They welcomed us in to see Tom Scott prepare for the upcoming tournament. We got to se what how an Olympic level athlete trains.
As we got to the Fort Worth Convention center, somewhere we’ve not been since 2023, preparations were intense. Here time and time again, Tom Scott was prepared as ever.
When the matches were finally here, Tom Scott fell under pressure all the way to the National Championship. He was down all three of his fights and a concerted effort and a Hail Mary later, he emerged with the title for the 16th time. Tom Scott was a karate national champion again.
Rating his performance, Tom Scott was optimistic. He knows USA Karate is on the rise and is doing his part to elevate the sport in the country. He also delivers a message to the kids coming up, looking up to him, as to how to be a decade+ long athlete in the sport of karate.
