BS-TBS’s “Athlete Days” airs every Monday at 11:30pm! Monday, August 11th… #54 “Yoshida Yuya, Athletics Marathon” Yoshida Yuya is 28 years old and graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University and is the men’s marathon representative for the World Athletics and Field Championships. When he was in his fourth year of university, he showed a great run in the 4th ward of the Hakone Ekiden, where he first participated, and suddenly gained attention. One month later, at the Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon, he recorded the second highest ranking in the student history (at the time) of 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 30 seconds! He was planning to retire from track and field as soon as he graduated from university, but declined to join a company that he had received job offers and continued to compete with the GMO Internet Group. At the Fukuoka International Marathon last December, he won the tournament with a new record of 2 hours, 5 minutes, 16 seconds, which is the third place in Japan’s history! He grabbed a ticket to the Tokyo World Athletics Championships. This dramatic growth was the encounter between coach Hara Susumu, who was coached since his university days, and Osako Takeshi, who finished sixth in the Tokyo Olympics. He closely follows his days of faith in his own path and strives. —-BS-TBS’ “Athlete Days” ★ Broadcast every Monday at 11:30pm! Athlete’s determination. An invisible effort.
