A hundredth of a second was the difference for Olympian veteran, Bassa Mawem, finishing in
dramatic style to beat Ukraine’s Yaroslav Tkach.

The Frenchman’s return from a serious bicep injury sustained at this stage in 2020, and a personal
best time of 5.16 seconds in his last-ever competition, earned the respect of the other climbers, as
they warmly embraced him, celebrating his memorable qualification together.
It’s magic when the world comes together at the Olympic Games.
