Follow Olympic rower Simon van Dorp on a Day in his Life in Amsterdam. Visit his home rowing club Willem III and the Bosbaan, where the Dutch Olympic athletes train. As Simon shows you around, he talks about his rowing career, discusses the Olympic race against his biggest rival, Oliver Zeidler, and gives you a glimpse into his family life. Simon started rowing in 2011 and won gold at the World Rowing Championships in the men’s eight in 2017. He was a college rower at the University of Washington and later won Bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Single Sculls with TeamNL. At 2.03 meters tall, the 28-year-old is not only reaching the physical limits of rowing, but also keeps aiming high, both in the boat and in life beyond rowing.
