Neeraj Chopra finished runner-up in the men’s javelin throw at the Diamond League Final in Zurich.

The 27-year-old couldn’t breach the 90m mark on the day, while Julian Weber stole the show with two throws beyond 90m to claim the top spot in the 2025 Diamond League Final.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion was placed third until his final attempt, but a throw of 85.01m lifted him to second place, extending his streak to 26 consecutive top-two finishes.

Julian Weber, however, delivered a dominant performance. He opened with a 91.37m throw and went even further on his second attempt with 91.51m — the season’s best mark. After a foul on his third try, the German rounded off with efforts of 83.66m, 86.45m, and 88.66m.

Neeraj opened with a throw of 84.35m, followed by an 82.00m effort. After three successive fouls, he produced an 85.01m throw in his final attempt, which secured him second place.

Keshorn Walcott, who had held the second spot until Neeraj’s last throw, slipped to third. His best came on the opening attempt at 84.95m. He followed it up with throws of 79.91m and 81.78m, registered a foul on his fourth try, and concluded with efforts of 77.00m and 78.30m.

Anderson Peters secured fourth place with a best effort of 82.06m, achieved on his second attempt. Julius Yego followed in fifth with a throw of 82.01m, while Moldova’s Andrian Mardare took sixth spot with 81.81m. Switzerland’s Simon Wieland finished seventh with a mark of 81.29m.
