It was designed based on the concept of “gathering, everyone being equal, and everyone getting energy.” After trial and error, five panels with the motif of the “Olympic Games” became a spherical one consisting of two upper and lower stages. At the end of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, it “blooms” to welcome the final torchbearer. This expresses not only the sun, but also the energy and vitality that can be obtained from the sun, such as plants sprouting, flowers blooming, and hands wide open toward the sky. ■ Designer: Ooki Sato (OKI SATO) Representative of the design office. He has won numerous awards, especially in Europe, including being the youngest to win the Italian Designer of the year, and is highly evaluated.
