(Pitcher Hiromi Ito) “It was a more frustrating season than last year. I feel like this year we were closer to reaching (the championship) but we weren’t, so I feel more strongly about that one pitch or that one loss.” Pitcher Hiromi Ito, a native of Shikabe Town, started in 27 league games this season. With 195 strikeouts and 14 wins, he won the league’s “Most Wins Pitcher” and “Most Strikeouts” for the second time in 2024. (Pitcher Taikai Ito) “Honestly, we wanted the title as a team (league championship), so of course it’s an honor, but I don’t think I’m too happy about that (two titles).Of course I wanted to achieve (15 wins), and I’m disappointed that I couldn’t surpass my own numbers from last year.” (Selection Committee) As a starting pitcher, he won the Sawamura Award, the highest honor. He is the second player on the team to accomplish this feat since pitcher Yu Darvish in 2007. (Pitcher Taikai Ito) “I was very happy to hear from Mr. Darvish. I am very happy that Mr. Darvish, who I have always admired, continued his work, and if I have children, I would like to say, “Even Mr. Otani has not won (the Sawamura Award).” What are the responses and challenges that pitcher Ito has faced this season?
