stricken ‘warrior’ Sunderland vs Liverpool clash halted for horror injury to Endo as emotional star is stretchered off covering his face
SUNDERLAND’S clash with Liverpool was stopped after an injury to Wataru Endo – with Arne Slot revealing later that it “doesn’t look good”.
The Japanese international was making his first start for Arne Slot‘s Reds in nine months, filling in at right-back following the suspension of Dominik Szoboszlai.
However, in the second half he fell to the floor before having to be taken off by a stretcher.
Emotional Endo, 33, was carried off to applause from the Stadium of Light crowd as he covered his face with his shirt.
The brave star attempted to carry on following a suspected ankle injury sustained when he landed awkwardly while defending a cross.
But he soon fell to the floor after realising he could no longer continue.
