The closing ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics will take place on 20 February 2022 at the Beijing National Stadium in Beijing.
The iconic venue, which also staged the Opening Ceremony, will light up one last time to mark the end of the snow and ice spectacle.
The closing ceremony will highlight Beijing’s unique status as the only dual-Olympic city, said chief director Zhang Yimou.
Zhang also said that the theme of the closing ceremony will highlight happiness of the athletes as Olympians are the centerpiece of the grand sports gathering.
Speed skater Gao Tingyu and aerial skier Xu Mengtao of Team China were named as the flag bearers for the closing ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Close to 2,900 athletes from 91 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated in 109 events across seven sports at Beijing 2022.
