Max Muncy discussed his first home run of the season and what he’s seeing from Shohei Ohtani as a full-time two-way player.
Muncy got his first homer early this year, and notably off a lefty, something he worked on all spring.
“I didn’t have to wait until May this year… I feel really comfortable up there.”
He said the work he put in against left-handed pitching is already showing results and should continue to carry into the season.
But the bigger takeaway was his reaction to watching Ohtani pitch.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to that… it’s pretty special.”
Muncy revealed something that stands out even more behind the scenes.
“He really loves pitching… that’s what he’s all about.”
While fans focus on Ohtani’s hitting, Muncy says his dedication on the mound is just as intense, if not more.
“He’s really bought into everything with pitching… you can tell he loves it.”
With Ohtani taking on a full season as a two-way player again, Muncy believes the upside is massive.
“I expect nothing short of almost Cy Young out of him.”
