Carissa Moore paid homage to the father of modern surfing, Duke Kahanamoku, after winning the Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020. Moore is the first woman to ever win a surfing gold medal at the Olympics.

In a historic moment for the Olympic Games, Team USA’s Carissa Moore scored waves of 7.33 and 7.60 exceeding Bianca Buitendag’s total score of 8.46, relegating the South African to the silver.
