The corruption scandal surrounding the Tokyo Olympics has spread to yet another tournament sponsor. The special investigation department of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office began a search of the headquarters of the parking lot service “Park 24”. The head office of “Park 24” in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo is being searched by the special investigation department. According to people involved, company executives and people in charge of departments related to the Tokyo Games were arbitrarily interviewed by the special investigation department. Park 24’s group company “Times 24” operates hourly parking lots nationwide, and in July 2018 signed a contract with the organizing committee to sponsor the event. At Park24, Tsunekazu Takeda, former chairman of the JOC (Japanese Olympic Committee), serves as an outside director. Former JOC President Tsunekazu Takeda: “(Q. What kind of talk did Park 24 have?) I haven’t heard anything. I don’t even know that there was a house investigation today.” What about the story?) We talked about a lot of things, but I don’t remember if we talked about that.”
