The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office has arrested an executive of major advertising agency Daiko for allegedly bribing a former director of the organizing committee in a corruption scandal surrounding the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Yoshikazu Taniguchi (57), an executive of “Ohiro”, asked Haruyuki Takahashi (78), a former director of the Organizing Committee, to take advantage of the contract work for the tournament sponsor. He is suspected of giving a bribe of 6 million yen. In addition, Kazumasa Fukami (73), who runs the company to which Takahashi and Ohiro received funds, was arrested again on suspicion of accepting bribes. This is the third time Takahashi has been arrested in a series of cases. The special investigation unit has been searching Taniguchi’s home since the afternoon of the 27th.
