During the 1992 Olympics, runner Derek Redmond tore his hamstring during the 400m semifinal and was limping on the track. His father, Jim, noticed his son’s pain and immediately ran onto the tracks to help him. Despite being told by officials to get off the track, Jim remained by his son’s side, letting him lean on his shoulder, and walking him to the finish line.
