It turns out that the lawyer of the former director of the organizing committee who was indicted in the corruption case surrounding the Tokyo Olympics has requested bail from the Tokyo District Court. Haruyuki Takahashi (78), a former director of the organizing committee, received a total of 54 million yen in bribes on the 9th from advertising giant ADK Holdings and Sun Arrow, which sold stuffed animals used as the mascot of the tournament. He was additionally indicted by the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office’s Special Investigation Department. This is the fourth time that Takahashi has been indicted in a series of cases, and the total amount of bribes he received is nearly 200 million yen. Takahashi’s lawyers requested bail in the afternoon. In addition, the lawyers for each of the three defendants, including the former president of ADK Holdings, Shinichi Ueno (68), have requested bail. In the future, the Tokyo District Court will decide whether to release bail.
