The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office and the Fair Trade Commission have jointly launched a search of Dentsu’s headquarters and other homes, as suspicions of collusion have increased over the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics test tournaments. Several locations have been raided on suspicion of violating the Antimonopoly Act, including the headquarters of major advertising company Dentsu and event company Cerespo. According to the people concerned, there is a suspicion that order coordination was conducted to determine the successful bidder in advance in the competitive bidding related to the planning of the test tournament ordered by the organizing committee in 2018. A total of 26 bids were submitted for each competition venue, and nine companies including Dentsu and one joint venture won the bid for a total of more than 500 million yen. The Special Investigation Department of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office and the Fair Trade Commission will analyze the seized materials and other materials to clarify the actual situation.
