The 2020 J-league champions Kawasaki Frontale levelled late in the game to retain a 2-2 draw with Shimizu S-Pulse.
Shimizu stunned the champions early on with an opener from Brazilian forward Carlinhos Junior. 10 minutes later, Kawasaki midfielder Ao Tanaka scored his fourth goal of the season as he levelled the scoring.
Then just short of half-time, defensive midfielder Renato Augusto got himself on the scoresheet to send Shimizu 2-1 up. However, Shimizu were unable to see the game out with the win, as Kawasaki defender Miki Yamane clinched back an 89th minute goal to end the match a 2-2 draw.
