Team USA’s Jade Carey scored redemption winning the gold the medal in the women’s floor exercise final inside Tokyo 2020’s Ariake Gymnastics Centre, leaving four-time Olympian Vanessa Ferrari of Italy in second and Japan’s MURAKAMI Mai and ROC’s Angelina Melnikova in shared third place. Carey posted a 14.366 for the win. In the vault final, Carey stutter had stepped down the runway and bailed out of her planned vault. But just a day later, in the floor exercise final, Carey launched her tumbling to the rafters, nearly sticking every tumbling pass including a layout double-double and front layout stepout to double-double tucked.
