Reigning world champion Danielle Williams finished fourth in the women’s 100m hurdles in the first meeting of the Wanda Diamond League in Xiamen, China, on Saturday.

The Jamaican clocked a season-best time 12.56, narrowly missing a podium position.

The reigning Olympic gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico clinched victory with a meet record and season-best time of 12.45. Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas, who broke the indoor 60m hurdles world record in February and March, finished second in a season-best 12.49, while Cyrena Samba-Mayela of France set a national record and personal best of 12.55 to claim third.

Jamaican Olympic bronze medalist Megan Tapper finished in eighth place with a time of 12.88.

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s reigning Olympic champion, Hansle Parchment, kicked off his season with a sixth-place finish in the men’s 110 hurdles, clocking 13.33. This marked his first race since September 12, 2023, when he claimed the Diamond trophy at the Prefontaine Classic held at Eugene’s Hayward Field, besting three-time world champion Grant Holloway of the USA. Orlando Bennett, also of Jamaica, finished eighth with a time of 13.58.
