According to reports from Germany, Borussia Mönchengladbach is currently considering a record bid from Eindhoven. However, the German sub-topper first wants to attract a replacement for the 27-year-old central defender. PSV’s long-term search for a central defender finally seems to be nearing its denouement. The Eindhoven team has been looking for reinforcement for the heart of their defense for a year now, and this summer too the search was far from easy. After missing out on Sepp van den Berg, the arrival of Itakura also seemed uncertain. Nevertheless, PSV is persevering and is now waiting for a decision from Mönchengladbach. Despite the progress, no agreement has been reached yet. Itakura is highly valued at Mönchengladbach, which first wants to find a replacement before letting the Japanese player leave for PSV. Elfrink expects that everything must be finalized tomorrow, as the transfer market in Germany closes at midnight. If Mönchengladbach cannot find a replacement before then, PSV may have to forgo the arrival of Itakura. With the offer that PSV has submitted according to German reports, it meets Mönchengladbach’s demands. If an agreement is reached, Itakura will become the most expensive acquisition ever for the Eindhoven team.
