Elementary school students from all over Japan are gathering in Tomakomai to play in an ice hockey tournament. The Elementary School Smile Project Cup is a tournament organized by Osawa Chiho, a member of the Japanese women’s ice hockey team who has competed in three consecutive Olympic Games, and this is the second time the tournament has been held. In addition to playing matches, junior players support the games as referees, and it is also a place to learn how ice hockey is managed. Osawa Chiho said, “The high school and junior high school linesmen are working very hard, and the elementary school players are also working hard and enjoying the game, so I think it’s good that we held the event.” Eight teams from within and outside Hokkaido are participating in the tournament, and after playing league matches in two groups, the ranking matches will be held on the 8th. #HBC Sports #Ice Hockey #Tomakomai
