A walk through Paris, in conversation with Olympic triathlon gold medalist, Alex Yee
”The beauty of my ‘what now?’ is that it is infinite. There is no such thing as the perfect race in triathlon. I was lucky enough to become Olympic champion in our sport but people will look at my race and see places where I can improve.”
Alex Yee had a lot to process after claiming triathlon gold in Paris. For long parts of the run, it looked like Hayden Wilde was going to hand the Londoner his second successive Olympic silver medal. Maybe it was the memory of Japan, or maybe the thought of a future of ‘what ifs’ — whatever it was Alex ran the last 1500 meters like a man not just chasing down his rival, but chasing down his legacy.
