Shohei Ohtani came out swinging in the Dodgers’ 5-4 Opening Day victory over the Tigers after smashing a sole home run in the 7th inning on Thursday.

The Japanese superstar scored the crucial fifth run for the Dodgers which ensure they got their 2025 MLB title defence off to a winning start.

After the game Ohtani claimed the result was important.

“I think it was a huge win, to be able to hit in that spot,” Ohtani said. “Today with the opening ceremony, we wanted to make it a win.”
