I am honored to say hello to all the Olympic athletes from all over the world. And I would like to thank all the Japanese people. The Olympic spirit brings the best of mankind. Teamwork and solidarity, talent and forgiveness. The Olympic spirit inspires and unites us in difficult times. We all mourn the lives lost in the pandemic of Coronavirus disease. All the athletes in Tokyo have overcome the barriers and have shown their determination. Anything can be achieved by directing the same energy to global challenges. Peace. A clean, environmentally friendly and prosperous planet. A better, more equal world rooted in the idea of helping vulnerable people and leaving no one behind.
