England go into the game after a 1-1 draw with Uruguay, with Tuchel confirming Harry Kane is back in camp and will captain the side against Japan.
Tuchel gives an injury and squad update after England’s revised 27 man group was confirmed, with John Stones, Adam Wharton, Noni Madueke, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka among those unavailable. He says the medical decisions were made to avoid bigger problems, insists he is not angry with the players, and reveals some injured players even stayed around camp for treatment and to remain with the group.
He also praises Japan’s quality, organisation and culture, describes them as a well drilled side with strong patterns in possession, and highlights the threat of Kaoru Mitoma. Tuchel speaks about John Stones’ place in his plans, England’s final World Cup preparations, and the belief building inside the squad ahead of the summer.
