U25 jumping cup: Britt Roth: Final goal achieved! There was one goal in her last U25 year: qualifying for the final in Germany’s U25 jumping cup run by the German Equestrian Foundation and Holger Hetzel. She achieved exactly this goal on Monday, the penultimate day of the 62nd Mannheim Maimarkt Tournament. The 24-year-old student Britt Roth from Zeiskam won the second of four stages of the jumping cup. As the last of the seven participants in the jump-off, she rode into the course, whizzed over the jumps with her Jeffrey in the fresh forward and won. At 42.10 seconds she was 85 hundredths of a second faster than second-placed Liam Broich on Cadou Z. Third place went to Magnus Schmidt in Carl Gustav’s saddle with a time of 43.63 seconds. “I’m so super proud of Jeffrey,” the winner gushed. “We were already able to win the jumping on Saturday and today, as the last starter in the jump-off, I risked everything again.” This victory is something very special for her. She competed in Mannheim for the first time at the age of 12, back then in the amateur tour. Her mother Barbara Reitter also took part in the Maimarkt tournament. And her younger brother Mikka has also had some successes in the city of squares in the last few days. “In front of this backdrop, with so many friends and acquaintances in the audience, and then also with Jeffrey – it’s unbelievable,” Britt was almost stunned. As a yearling, the now nine-year-old Holsteiner came to the Roth family’s stable in Zeiskam. “I rode him myself and celebrated every success with him so far. I’m happy about every round with him.” The national coach of the U25 show jumpers, Peter Teeuwen, was very pleased with his conclusion: “We already had a relatively high standard of quality here in Mannheim, and the riders all did a great job. The horses jumped better from day to day.” When he walked the course he expected three or four zero-fault rides, but in the end there were seven. “I was totally positively surprised at how well the riding was done here.” And with a smile, Teeuwen added: “It was clear to me in advance that the jumping could turn out the way it did. Britt thought a lot about what her season should look like at the beginning of the year. We made a plan together to reach the final goal in Aachen as part of the World Championships.” The plan worked. Since 2024, this series for Germany’s best U25 show jumpers has been supported by Holger Hetzel. He was impressed: “I think we saw an exceptional winner in Britt. The two of them are an exceptional couple and very deserved to win.” The purpose of the series is to bring the young people up to the standard of the seniors, and the difference between the U25 riders and the seniors was no longer that big in Mannheim. “The riders who were at the forefront here now will certainly be able to hold their own here in the senior camp on the Maimarkt in a year or two.” Hetzel also expressed his thanks to tournament director Peter Hofmann, who is totally behind the series. “Young people need a good stage – not only because it’s more fun, but also so that the inhibitions about riding in such a stadium are reduced.” Peter Hofmann himself emphasized: “The U25 series is particularly important to me. And I’m actually particularly happy about the winner today. Her mother has already ridden here, and I also knew her grandfather well. The topic of horses plays a big role in the whole family. The young people need that if they want to get to the top in our sport. And Britt does it simply brilliantly.” The best five couples from Mannheim, who emerged from the special test on Saturday and the final on Monday, have earned their final ticket for the jumping cup final in Aachen. In addition to the three first place winners in the final, there were Lia Sophie Bolten on Charming Cassillia and Paul Ripploh on Ride Smart Chevalier de Blue.
