Roberts said the Dodgers removed Ohtani primarily as a precaution and does not believe the issue is serious.
“We tried to be smart about it.”
The Dodgers manager explained that Ohtani reported discomfort behind the knee and near the hamstring, though there was no indication of a significant injury.
Roberts added that he expects Ohtani to be in the lineup tomorrow but wants to see how he responds after traveling and completing his normal routine.
He also confirmed that Justin Wrobleski is expected to make his next start despite being hit by a line drive earlier in the game.
On Ohtani’s offensive performance, Roberts praised the superstar’s focus at the plate following a taxing pitching outing.
“He was really locked in tonight.”
