“I really feel convicted on having Rushing with Shohei.”
The Dodgers manager explained that Ohtani’s pitching is more nuanced and that Rushing has spent more time working with him than any other catcher currently available.
Roberts also praised the duo’s first start together, saying the rapport between the two was strong despite the disappointing result.
On the bullpen, Roberts pointed to walks and slugging as the primary issues behind the group’s rough start to June.
“When we’re really good, we minimize both of those.”
The Dodgers manager added that help could be on the way with Evan Phillips, Edwin Díaz, Brock Stewart, and Tommy Edman continuing their recoveries.
