Ohtani said he felt relatively good overall but pointed to one inning that proved costly.
“The overall feeling was pretty good. There were good parts and bad parts, but really it came down to that one inning.”
When asked about the blister issue, Ohtani downplayed its impact.
“It didn’t really affect my pitching.”
He also acknowledged that he wasn’t pitching at full strength.
“You can’t always be 100 percent throughout a season. Being able to compete and help us win was important.”
Regarding his recent knee issue, Ohtani explained that he made mechanical adjustments before taking the mound and always intended to make the start.
“My intention was always to pitch today. I made some adjustments mechanically and felt good enough to go.”
Ohtani added that he trusts the Dodgers’ staff to manage his workload with the bigger picture in mind.
“The most important thing is staying healthy and being ready when we get to the postseason.”
