“There were some teachers who said, “I can’t play soccer,” so “quitting” wasn’t an option.” Japan national team defender Takehiro Tomiyasu suffered from repeated serious injuries, and at one point his doctor told him to retire. These are the words he said when he overcame an unimaginably hellish rehabilitation and was selected as a member of the North and Central America World Cup. Tomiyasu never gave up even in a hopeless situation. What he gained during this long and difficult period was a heartfelt gratitude that said, “Being able to play soccer and being on the Japan national team is something I can never take for granted.” Because he almost lost it once, he is able to “enjoy” even the pressure of the big stage. Now that he has reached that point, he is definitely a stronger player than before. In our daily lives, we tend to feel dissatisfied because we take for granted that we can work, be healthy, and have an environment where we can take on challenges. However, like Tomiyasu, when you realize that “not everything is taken for granted” and are grateful for the environment you have, you will be able to acknowledge even the hardships of the past as “I am where I am now because of that time.” 👇[Please let us know in the comments section! ]What are you currently grateful for, such as being healthy or having an environment where you can take on challenges?
