Shohei Ohtani discussed his outing against the Twins, the adjustments he made after a difficult inning, and how he and catcher Dalton Rushing worked together to change the game plan on the fly.
Ohtani admitted he felt some hesitation while pitching early in the outing.
“I felt like I was pitching with some hesitation.”
After that, Ohtani said he made a conscious decision to simplify his pitch selection and trust his own game plan.

Ohtani explained that while he and Rushing prepare extensively before every game, the conversations during the game are just as important.
“We go over everything before the game, but once the game starts, you have to adjust based on how hitters are reacting.”
He added that continuing to communicate throughout the game is the biggest key to building chemistry with his young catcher.
