Norika Tamura, a fencing player from Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, donated masks and swords used at the Tokyo Olympics to the city. Norika Tamura, a fencing player, visited Numata City Hall. Mr. Tamura, who participated in the Tokyo Olympics last year, finished fifth in the fencing women’s group Saber. She donated 17 items, including the masks and swords she used when she participated in the Tokyo Olympics, to express her gratitude to the citizens who supported her. At her reception ceremony, Mayor Minoru Hoshino handed a letter of appreciation to Mr. Tamura. Numata City is making efforts to promote fencing, such as being selected as the fencing venue for the National Sports Festival to be held in Gunma Prefecture in 2029. The donated items are already on display at Zacros Numata and anyone can see them.
