The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office has indicted the chairman of major publishing company KADOKAWA for bribing a former director of the organizing committee in connection with the selection of sponsors for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. According to the Special Investigation Department, KADOKAWA chairman Tsuguhiko Kadokawa (79) offered 380 million yen in sponsorship money to Haruyuki Takahashi (78), former director of the organizing committee, regarding the selection of tournament sponsors. He was indicted for giving a bribe of about 69 million yen, after making multiple requests such as wanting it to be within the yen. KADOKAWA’s former senior managing director Yoshiyuki Yoshihara (64) and former head of charge Kyoji Maniwa (63) have been charged with colluding with Kadokawa and bribing Takahashi.
