The Tokyo District Court has decided not to grant bail to the former chairman of publishing giant KADOKAWA, who was indicted for bribery in a corruption case surrounding the Tokyo Olympics. Former chairman of “KADOKAWA” Tsuguhiko Kadokawa (79) asked Haruyuki Takahashi (78), former director of the organizing committee, to receive convenience in selecting a sponsor for the tournament. He has been charged with giving a bribe of 69 million yen. Kadokawa’s lawyer had requested bail, but the Tokyo District Court decided not to grant bail on the afternoon of the 6th. The defense is expected to file a semi-appeal against the decision. Defendant Kadokawa released a comment on the 4th saying, “He has never been involved in corruption.”
