The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office has indicted a total of seven people, including a former director of the organizing committee and the former president of advertising company ADK Holdings, in a corruption case surrounding the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Haruyuki Takahashi, a former director of the Organizing Committee, has been indicted for accepting a bribe of 54 million yen in total from ADK Holdings and “Sun Arrow”, which sold the stuffed toy of the event’s mascot. The Special Investigation Department also indicted Joji Matsui, the former representative of the company that received the bribe, without detention for bribery. In addition, three people, including Shinichi Ueno, the former president of ADK Holdings, were indicted for bribery, and two people, including the former president of “Sun Arrow,” were indicted without detention. This is the fourth time Takahashi has been indicted, and the bribes he allegedly received totaled about 200 million yen.
