Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a Jamaican track and field sprinter. Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Fraser-Pryce ascended to prominence in 2008 when at 21 years old, the relatively unknown athlete became the first Caribbean woman to win 100 m gold at the Olympics. She competed at the 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 Summer Olympic Games. She was the first female athlete representing Jamaica to win an Olympic gold medal in the women’s 100 meters.
