Bouwahjgie Nkrumie’s 100m race at Carifta Games 2023. What will his time be? Bouwahjgie Nkrumie became the first Jamaican schoolboy to run sub-10 seconds, even better than the legendary Usain Bolt. He is also the third junior in the world to do so.

So, come Saturday, 8th April 2023, the clear favorite to take the Under 20 boys’ 100m dash is Jamaican sprinter Bouwahjgie Nkrumie. He set a new Jamaica national junior record, finishing with a blistering 9.99 seconds performance at the Boys and Girls Champs 2023 last week. Then he looked to his left and right in the race more than once, which suggested he could and would have gone faster had he ran straight through the line. What his time will be on Saturday, comment below to share your opinion.

Nkrumie will compete in heat three, facing off against home fan favorite Adam Musgrove from the Bahamas and Guadeloupe’s Jeremy Dalphrased.

Defending champion DeAndre Daley, also from Jamaica, finished second to Nkrumie at the Boys and Girls Champs and posted a personal best of 10.14 secs. Daley will begin his title defense from heat five, competing against Ajani Daley of Antigua & Barbuda and Grenada’s Emilio Bishop.

Jaiden Reid from the Cayman Islands, who is also expected to contend for a medal, will start from heat one alongside Carlos Brown of The Bahamas, while potential finalists and possible medal conteders, Kyle Lawrence of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Ezekiel Newton of Guyana, and Aragorn Straker of Barbados will compete in subsequent heats.

The U20 Boys 100m heats will mark the start of a highly anticipated competition at the 2023 Carifta Games, which will take place over the coming three days and will run until April 10.
