Shizuka Arakawa is the first Asian figure skater to win a gold medal in Olympic figure skating. At the age of 16, she competed in the Nagano Olympics. Although many people think she is a precocious genius skater, she was actually a late bloomer of hard work. She left out of the Salt Lake City Olympic team and dreamed of moving into the world of ice shows, but heard that she could not live in that world without the title of “champion”, so she continued her competitive life, won the world championships, and then turned to Turin. The Olympic gold medal and the top position at once. She currently holds an important position in the Japan Skating Federation, and is making the most of her experience to train the next generation of skaters. She told us about her life from when she started skating to when she became vice president. https://www.ssf.or.jp/files/story_35.pdf A think tank specializing in sports The Sasakawa Sports Foundation conducts research and surveys on sports promotion, collects, analyzes, and disseminates data, with the aim of realizing a “Sport for Everyone society.” I’m here. ▼ Sasakawa Sports Foundation (SSF) official website https://www.ssf.or.jp/ ▼ Unraveling the past of sports “Verification of sports history” https://www.ssf.or.jp/ssf_eyes/history/ index.html ▼Interviews with more than 100 sports greats https://www.ssf.or.jp/ssf_eyes/history/interview/index.html ▼Investigation and research report of the Sasakawa Sports Foundation https://www. ssf.or.jp/thinktank/index.html
