TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM – The Indonesian national team’s rival in the upcoming Qatar 2023 Asian Cup, namely Japan won a landslide victory over the Latin American team, Peru in the FIFA Matchday event which was held today, Tuesday (20/6/2023). Japan crushed Peru with a score of 4-1 at the Panasonic Stadium Suita, Japan. Hiroki Ito opened Japan’s lead over Peru in the 22nd minute, then closed it with a goal from Kaoru Mitoma (37′) before halftime in the first half. In the second half, Japan managed to add two goals in just 12 minutes, each through Junya Ito (62′) and Daizen Maeda (74′). Peru could only reply to one goal through Christofer Gonzales in the 93rd minute. Japan actually didn’t really dominate the game from the FIFA 21st ranked team. However, Hajime Moriyasu’s men took advantage of the opportunities they created more effectively. Eight attempts, four of which were on target and resulted in a goal. Meanwhile, Peru produced eight opportunities and only two that led to the goal, one of which was a goal. This result adds to Japan’s positive record during the June 2023 FIFA Matchday. Previously, Japan destroyed the North American team, El Salvador with a score of 6-0. Interestingly, against the 75th FIFA ranked team, Japan opened the scoring in the first minute through the action of Shogo Taniguchi. Only three minutes later, Japan was able to double through Ayase Ueda’s penalty. Japan added two more goals before halftime, through former Real Madrid players, Takefusa Kubo (25) and Ritsu Doan (44′). In the second half goals from Keito Nakamura (60′) and Kyogo Furuhashi (73′) sealed Japan’s 6-0 win over El Salvador. The Indonesian national team is in Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup which will be held in early 2024 in Qatar. The group contains Japan which is the favorite to qualify for the round of 16, then Iraq and Vietnam. Iraq did not take part in FIFA Matchday matches this June. Iraq last played a match on FIFA Matchday last March against Russia and Colombia. Iraq lost 2-0 to Russia and 1-0 to Colombia. Meanwhile, Vietnam will play one FIFA Matchday match tonight against Syria. Previously, Philippe Troussier’s team managed to overcome Hong Kong’s resistance with a narrow score of 1-0.
