Wataru Endo Expresses Liverpool’s Trophy Ambitions Following Glowing Remarks From Jurgen Klopp.
Wataru Endo has become a beloved figure among Liverpool fans, and his response to Jurgen Klopp’s recent remarks about the Japanese international has created an engaging exchange. Currently participating in the Asia Cup, the 30-year-old midfielder aims to lead Japan to success. Japan started strong with a 4-2 victory over Vietnam in their opening group game, with Endo contributing an assist and leading in recoveries.
One person who undeniably admires Endo is Klopp, who made light of the idea that Endo might miss games in January and possibly the first half of February during his recent press conference, stating: “I said, if I wish you good luck, it would be a lie!” That’s not what I did, obviously. Personally, I’d be happy if they exited the group stage, but it’s probably not possible, and then they can go and win it as well. Good luck, see you, come back healthy; those are pretty much the words. Now we have to deal with it and will deal with it.”
In response to Klopp’s remarks, Endo commented after his victory against Vietnam about how ‘honored’ he feels to be considered important by Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool: “Of course, the coach meant that as a joke, but I do feel very honored that he thinks I need to be back at Liverpool. I’m here now, I’m the captain of the team, and all I’m thinking about is bringing the trophy back to Liverpool.”
Clearly a focused and dedicated individual, there’s a reason why the club chose to extend a deal until 2027 for the 30-year-old. With Japan being the favorites for the competition, he is likely to return in February and will be reintegrated into the Liverpool side to assist them in competing on four fronts. The club is on course to secure silverware this season, and Endo could play a significant role in that success.
