The Los Angeles Dodgers splashed the cash this offseason, spending over $1 billion for Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto among others. Granted, a lot of that money is deferred, but it’s a serious statement. ESPN’s Eduardo Pérez notes that the Dodgers won’t spend this kind of money if they wouldn’t be able to earn it back so he sees this as a positive for baseball.
