A “JOC Olympic Class” was held at a junior high school in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, where former Olympic athletes convey the importance of teamwork and the joy of exercise to children. Yurina Yamada, who participated in the ski jump at the 2014 Olympic Games, visited Yoshii Nishi Junior High School in Takasaki City. This class has been held since 2016 by the partner city agreement between Takasaki City and the JOC / Japanese Olympic Committee, and will be held at seven junior high schools in Takasaki City this year. This day was held in two parts, exercise and classroom lectures, for about 50 second graders. In the exercise class, I challenged a relay that competes while sliding a mop on one leg, which is close to skiing. Since ski jumping has a chance to fly multiple times, Mr. Yamada called out to the team that lost the first time, “There is still a chance,” and encouraged them to demonstrate their teamwork and take on the challenge. .. In a lecture after this, Mr. Yamada changed his competitive life, which suffered from two injuries, and said, “The existence of people who support me is important, and I respect all of them.” The students listened to Mr. Yamada’s story, surprised that the Olympic athletes were not sailing smoothly.
