The Dodgers shortstop said it was a routine ground ball and accepted full responsibility for not converting the out.
Betts also revealed he was fully aware of the perfect game and no-hit bid as the game progressed but insisted that didn’t change his approach.
Asked about Yamamoto’s dominance, Betts pointed to the ace’s deep arsenal and ability to attack hitters in different ways.
“He’s got so many weapons.”
Betts also praised Dalton Rushing’s pitch calling and said the combination made Yamamoto especially difficult to game plan against.
On Shohei Ohtani’s return to the lineup, Betts didn’t hesitate.
